Seeking solace in the early hours of the morning, young men across Bristol gather in gyms to train every night. Alone or with friends, these individuals combat their everyday struggles through exercise, adopting the philosophy that mental strength comes from a foundation of physical strength.
But what are the struggles that led them all to the gym in the first place?
We really hope that this documentary will reach those currently struggling so the words of wisdom shared by these men may help them in this tough time. We are very grateful to Talk Club, Bristol Mind and Changes Bristol for partnering with us on this project to help achieve this
BUT we also need your help...
If you know anyone who is going through a hard time, please encourage them to check out this documentary. We are not seeking views, nor awards from film festivals - this film is out online soley to try and help the next guy.

SUPPORT THE CHARITY
Talk Club is a UK male mental health charity helping men to improve their mental health.
We prefer to call it mental fitness because our talking groups actively help men to understand how they’re feeling by asking ‘How are you? Out of 10?’ then explaining why. It helps to build resilience, and the numbers prove it.
On average, a TC talk and listen group raises a man’s mental fitness by over 15%.
It’s why local pubs to global corporates, and 18 to 80+ year olds across the world, are now using Talk Club.
Join our community and start by putting a number on how you really feel!
Any donations you can offer would be really appreciated to allow Talk Club to continue to help men across the UK

SUPPORT THE Filmmaker
Alfie is a documentary filmmaker and DOP currently specialising in Natural History and Wildlife. Growing up in Manchester, he moved to Bristol to pursue this dream and is currently studying an MSc in Science Communication for a Better Planet at the University of Bristol. His work as a director has spanned nature documentaries, narrative films, music videos and promotional content. He most recently worked as a DOP on the short film 'Puddle Man' starring Noel Fielding. The film was awarded finalest in the 'Best Cinematography' cateogory Big Fridge Film Festival and screened at the London Independent Film Festival.
Following the conversations with the men in this documentary, Alfie went on to found the Bristol 20 minute society to combat lonliness in the student community. The society hosts spontaneous, random events announced only 20 minutes beforehand with students racing across Bristol to participate in anything from Ghost Hunts to Real Life Mario Kart on the electric scooters. Last year the society helped raise over £200 for the Bristol Childrens Hospital and continues to work hard on promoting mental health awareness through it's platform.
Alfie is still working on more documentaries to come soon, chasing stories he can hopefully bring to the screen in order to educate a wider audience about local and global issues. Any support you can offer on this journey is greatly appreciated even if it is simply a follow on Instagram! Additonally if you do have any stories you'd like to share as potential documentary ideas please do reach out...
